St James Infirmary – Jackson Square (with Video)

New Orleans is one of my all time favorite cities in the US.  Being very much into the Blues and Jazz, I just feel like the quarter just has this amazing energy to it.  I just love to wander on Bourbon and take in all of the music.  One of my all time favorite songs is “St James Infirmary Blues” made famous by people like Cab Calloway and Louis Armstrong.

So imagine how absolutely energized I was coming out of St. Louis Cathedral after making some HDR shots and finding about 10 or 11 horn players in front of the old City Hall building just started to get into “St. James Infirmary”.  They actually did a slow version and then sped it up. I had to record a little sample for you guys to check out!

I just sat there absolutely beaming…  it was one of those moments where you just feel so blessed and grateful for what you have.  Grateful for the memories you can make by chasing art. Thank you so much for that NOLA. Bon Temps indeed… 🙂

  4. Very nice! My wife and I spent a few days in NOLA over New Year’s Eve 2004 / New Year’s Day 2005 and I’ve yet to get back. I was just getting my photographic feet wet then, had the Canon A80 PnS only. This is my favorite image from that trip – http://bit.ly/1cmSJ0B

It’s one of those trips I wish I can “do over” since my eye has sharpened (and I hope my skills have too).

    I assume you’re a fan of HBO’s Treme?
